Hip Necrosis often referred to as avascular necrosis of bone, aseptic necrosis, ischemic necrosis, or osteochondritis dissecans, is the death of a segment of bone caused by an impaired blood supply.
This disorder can be caused by an injury or can occur spontaneously. Typical symptoms include pain, limited range of motion of the affected joint, and, when the leg is affected, a limp. The diagnosis is based on symptoms and the results of x-rays and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Jaslok has introduced stem cell treatment of Hip Necrosis. There have been major advancement in hip necrosis treatment and in many cases hip resurfacing is not the solution but doing a BMHR is:
The BMHR offers a remarkable solution for Avascular Necrosis patients as it works in the same way as a Resurfacing, using Resurfacing parts supplemented by a thicker stem in the neck of the femur. On an X-ray, the BMHR looks much the same as a Resurfacing.
Whilst Dr. Pispati endeavours to offer Resurfacing to most patients The Birmingham Mid Head Resection device (BMHR) is an amazing solution for patients who are not suitable for Hip Resurfacing. Patients with weak femoral head bone, those with Avascular Necrosis with multiple cysts, and patients with femoral head bone loss are not candidates for Hip Resurfacing. Such patients can now undergo a BMHR procedure.
A new, minimally invasive procedure, called the bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) procedure, involves drilling into the dead bone and then using a sterile needle to take bone marrow stem cells from the anterior iliac crests (the front parts of the pelvic bone) and injecting the bone marrow stem cells into the dead bone in the hip. It is thought that this can provide a significant benefit in treatment of this condition by preventing further progression of the disease and by stimulating new bone growth.
