JASLOK HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE

The Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre is one of the oldest tertiary care, multi-specialty Trust hospitals of the country. In the late 60s, when the establishment of large private hospitals was not common, the institution was conceptualized & endowed to the city of Mumbai by Seth Lokoomal Chanrai. Seth Chanrai came from a family of philanthropists who had businesses in many countries. The family had already supported many small & large projects. Seth Lokoomal entrusted Dr. Shantilal Mehta the task of establishing an ultra-modern centrally located medical centre where people of all races and creeds could received the benefits of advanced health care. Jaslok Hospital is situated at Dr. G Deshmukh Marg., Peddar Road which is a main artery of South Mumbai and overlooking the Arabian Sea. The name Jaslok was derived from the names of Seth Lokoomal & his wife Smt. Jasotibai. Seth Chanrai’s vision was implemented and brought to reality largely by his Brother-in-law Dada Mathradas Assomull. The hospital was inaugurated on 6th July 1973 by the erstwhile Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi.

Western India Institute of Neuro Sciences WIINS

Western India Institute of Neuro Sciences (WIINS) is the metamorphosis surgical facility in Kolhapur. It started as Ratna Clinic, the first modern surgical facility in 1959. Late Dr. Kamlesh Prabhu M.S., F.R.C.S. a renowned surgeon, founded it. Dr. Kamlesh Prabhu acquired his graduate and post graduate degrees and initial medical training in Mumbai at Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital. He was a merit scholar of Bombay University. He then trained in United Kingdom with Specialization in General Surgery. He was awarded the fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of U. K. (F.R.C.S.). He returned to India in order to serve needy people refusing all opportunities overseas.

Ratna Clinic till early 90’s was treating general surgery and obstetric & gynecology patients. In 1991 suitable modifications in infrastructure were carried out to cater to Neurosurgical patients. Over the past years the center has continued to grow and has absorbed the technological & therapeutic advances that have occurred in the field of clinical neurosciences. It has now metamorphosed in to W.I.I.N.S. (Western India Institute Of Neuro Sciences) an ultra modern & high tech center for all NEUROSURGICAL & POLYTRAUMA patients. It provides neurocare services to the patients of almost 8 districts of Southern
Maharashtra, Northern Karnataka & Goa states. Its extended services now involve,

In fact this is the only dedicated 60 bedded super-specialty center that treats all kinds of neurosurgery, polytrauma & neurological patients in Western Maharashtra. Over this period the center has built a formidable reputation in its clinical service, with experience of performing 7500 supra-major neurosurgical procedures with excellent results. Over 15,000 complicated trauma patients have been successfully treated.

The therapies in other specialties required for critical care and polytrauma management are available. A panel of well qualified, experienced consultants with established reputation in their respective fields attend to patient’s needs. Recently a Stryker Neuronavigation System has been added and Navigation Guided Endoscopy has been started
